We are a community group that welcomes local residents, university students and staff. Our aim is to build a stronger, safer and more stable community, while cutting back on waste and carbon emissions.
Tool Share lends tools, runs workshops on tool use and maintenance, and empowers neighbours to get more hands on!
Based at the Kernel, St Andrews Botanics, we work closely with other related projects and groups. Find us by the gate on Viaduct Walk. Open at specific times only.
How to Join Tool Share
ToolShare works just like a library. We have over 100 items in our catalogue, from simple screwdrivers and hammers, to power tools, cooking and craft equipment. We continue to add to the selection – let us know if you think something is missing.
1. Become a Member
The suggested membership fee is £15 (pay what you can) or a donation of a usable tool.
Once you have joined, you can borrow as many tools as you wish, for free.
2. Browse the Library
We have a range of different tools from kitchen appliances to garden equipment to power tools.
Browse our online library on MyTurn. Found what you are looking for, reserve it!
3. Pick it Up
We must verify your identity before you can check out tools so please do this the first time you come to check out tools by bringing a photo ID and a bill with your address (less than 3 months old).
4. Pick it Up
Check out the events below for the next Tool Share loan session.
If those times do not work you can arrange another way of collecting your tool.
How to Get Involved
We are looking for people to get involved in other ways too. You can simply donate tools or volunteer to help with tool maintenance and lending.
