Shared Use Paths

Numerous surveys have shown that the main barrier for commuters to leave their car and cycle to work is the lack of space for cyclist on the roads. The St Andrews Bike User Group is looking to support cycle route development along the main commuter routes from St Andrews to encourage cycling. These are long term projects that rely on considerable public support to make them happen.

Crail to St Andrews

This 10 mile route mirrors the popular Fife Coastal Path and would link the communities and businesses on route including the castle golf course, Fairmont Hotel and Cambo house. Considerable support has been shown for this route following a pre-feasibility study being undertaken in 2016. A steering group made of elected representatives, community representative structures, interested locals and businesses was initiated in 2017.
