Fix-It Sessions

**Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic our bike pool fix-it sessions are running at limited capacity. Please ensure you book a slot before coming.**

Does your bike need a bit of TLC? We run twice weekly bike pool fix-it sessions! Currently we are in partnership with the Scotland Cycle Repair Scheme which means we can provide up to £50 worth of free essential maintenance and repair for your bike. You can also chat to our friendly mechanics who are more than happy to show you some bicycle basics.

Book, view FAQs or find more information on how to get involved below. Or contact Transition on transition@st-andrews.ac.uk.

How to get involved

We run Fix-It sessions twice a week, book a slot!

There are normally 6 slots at each session. When you book a slot you are booking a one-on-one with a professional mechanic who will check your bike over and discuss any issues. Each slot is 40 minutes long and you can choose between 1700-1740, 1740-1820 and 1820-1900. If your bike has extensive issues then please get in contact so we can advise you further. Please arrive at least 5 minutes early so we can keep things running smoothly!

You must book a slot through Eventbrite if you want to join our fix it sessions. Book here.

Can-do and Pop-Up events

Join our Bike Pool Facebook page and other social media for announcement of special events. These are mostly drop in, no need to book. We do recommend arriving early as these are normally quite popular!

FAQs

The sessions are open to anyone and all bikes are welcome!
Currently under the Scotland Cycle Repair Scheme you can get up to £50 worth of essential maintenance on the Scottish Government. Check overs are free but parts are billable. If you exceed the £50 then you will be liable for the remaining cost. The mechanics will discuss any additional costs with you before proceeding.
We are not currently taking cash. If you need to pay for parts or extra maintenance we will take your details and get in contact at a later point.

Some work is beyond the scope of our sessions. If this happens we will refer you to a professional repair shop. If you know your bike needs extensive repair then please let us know beforehand so we can advise you further.

If you simply need more time or we dont have the part at that particular session we may ask you to come back to another session. If this happens you must book as usual.
