Who are we?

Since 2009, Transition UStA has been a hub for sustainability across the town. We aim to create a more climate resilient St Andrews and support people in their journeys to low-carbon living. Spanning the themes of Smarter Travel, Sharing, Repair & Reuse, Local Food, Climate Know-How & Action and Green Spaces & Wildlife our work has something for just about everyone.

We belong to the wider Transition Network, which has groups all over the UK and other parts of the world. And like other groups, we see communities as the starting point for reimagining and rebuilding the world we live in. Transition Scotland is a network of Transition groups closer to home. Within Transition Scotland and the wider Transition Network we share ideas, run events and collaborate on projects.

The Transition movement is about feeling like you can make a difference in the world. It is about learning new skills, connecting with people and creating a new story for your local area.

Community Interest Company (CIC)

In 2017 Transition became incorporated to safeguard its’ volunteers and the projects that involved trading, including Bike Pool and The Tree.

It’s worth finding out a little more about what the CIC is.

Our Team

The staff behind Transition are a lovely bunch. If you’re not sure you know them yet have a read about us.

Or even better drop in and get to know us face-to-face, we love a chat!

Partnerships

Our ethos is that working together will always be a better way to tackle the problems we face. So whatever the project we are running, there is almost always another society or organisation that we team up with.

You can find out more about how we can work with different groups while reading up on our many projects and activities. But to name a few of our project partners: St Andrews Environmental Network, the St Andrews Botanic Garden, Cyclepath and the University of St Andrews.

Funders

Although we are a Community Interest Company (CIC) our projects run on the funding support of a few channels.

These include the University of St Andrews, the Scottish Government’s Climate Change Fund (CCF), Smarter Choices Smarter Places and Zero Waste Scotland and Cycling Scotland.
